Frequently Asked Questions
What is pulse pressure?
Pulse pressure is the difference between systolic and diastolic pressure. Normal is 40–60 mmHg. High pulse pressure (>60 mmHg) may indicate arterial stiffness; low pulse pressure (<25 mmHg) may indicate reduced cardiac output.
What is Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)?
MAP = Diastolic + (Pulse Pressure / 3). It represents the average pressure in arteries during a cardiac cycle. A MAP of 70–100 mmHg is generally considered normal for adequate organ perfusion.
When should I see a doctor?
Seek immediate care if you have a hypertensive crisis (>180/>120 mmHg) with symptoms. See your doctor if consistently in Stage 1 or 2 hypertension range, even without symptoms.
