If you have the opportunity, try to find a produce market that sells a Consumers Box. This is the same produce that goes to restaurants and schools, but they put together boxes like this to sell to individuals. This box was $20. It had a mainly veggies, but did have some oranges, peaches, and plums.
Tonight I pulled out the zucchini, a purple onion, and an orange bell pepper. I sautéed those, added some sliced beef and cooked a bit longer. Total meal was $9. Plenty for tonight with leftovers for lunch for the rest of the week.

Never heard of it how cool
Oh nice
Where do you guys live where this is a thing?
Anything in wisconsin
Yummy! What kind of rice is that?
Any information to get someone started on the consumer box? Thanks
Is it about the same as Misfit Market or is it directly from local farmers? I’m in Tennessee where there’s lots of Farmer’s markets throughout the state, but never heard of a consumer box
Encourages us to try different produce and make new things.
I get a consumer box every week. Such a good deal.
We have a place like this and the boxes are $15.00 Fruits, veggies and meats.
Over here they’re “farmers boxes “ and they’re $20 as well, they say it’s 20 pounds of produce
I’ve never heard of a “consumers box”
My local grocery store puts fruit and veggies in bags and sales for $1 they usually put 4-5 apples and 3-4 oranges together or they potatoes and onions together. I went today and they had large bags of limes for $1
Sometimes local produce suppliers do these out of their warehouse if you don’t have farmers nearby.
Some farms call them CO-OP boxes also.
I used to use bountiful baskets. They are awesome but no longer service my area. If any of you can get them in your area you should try it. Awesome way to save money and get in season fresh fruit and veggies
