I tried a new recipe tonight. It is low carb if you don’t eat it on a bun.
Baked Italian Sausage:
5 links of Italian sausage
5 string cheese
1 cup pasta sauce
Parmesan cheese (optional)
Any veggies you want to add (optional)
Hoagie rolls for sandwiches
Split each sausage lengthwise without cutting all the way through the bottom. Place a string cheese in the middle of each sausage. Put 1/2 cup sauce in the bottom of a 9×9 pan. Place sausages on top. Spread the other 1/2 cup sauce on top. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. I added Parmesan cheese and baked for about 3 more minutes. I added spinach to the bottom layer of sauce. It didn’t do anything flavor wise, but it add some green. I’ll add more next time. I’ll make this again with both sweet and hot sausages.
