Hi! I’m looking for ideas for bbq side dishes? My little family always goes to my mother in-laws on Sundays and we bbq for supper. My father in law always buys the meat, so I’m wondering what I can be making for a side dish instead of getting Cesar salad packs and pre made potato salad. Please send ideas? Cheap meals, we like pasta salad, potatoes my brother-in-law likes his cauliflower. It’s to feed five adults and left overs preferably 🙂

  1. Pasta salad – farfalle noodles, ranch dressing, broccoli florets, cherry tomatoes halved, black olives halved, crumbled bacon, Monterey jack cheese

  2. Cold pan-roasted green beans with lemon pepper. Cold are delicious.
    Same with Asparagus
    Roasted cauliflower
    Stuffed mini peppers
    Blistered peppers medly-delicious on beef.
    Quinoa salad with Roasted veg
    Roasted veg.

  3. Mix chopped cauliflower, frozen peas, chopped chunks(small) cheese with ranch dressing(can add other fresh veggies as well). Or make a taco salad, layer chopped lettuce, taco meat, red beans, shredded cheese, crushed Dorito chips. Then mix taco sauce and Western dressing for the sauce. Pour sauce over salad and mix until all is coated!

  4. PINEAPPLE SALAD

    2 20 oz cans of pineapple tidbits drained
    1 8 oz tub of Cool Whip thawed
    1 8 oz brick of softened cream cheese
    1 1/2 cups smashed up pretzels
    1 stick melted butter
    1/3 cup sugar

    Melt the butter and add the sugar and stir it up real good. Put the smashed up pretzels on a cookie sheet lined with foil. Dump the butter mixture on that and shove it in a 400 degree oven for 7 minutes. Take it out and let it cool.

    While all that mess is happening, combine the Cool Whip and cream cheese in a mixer and buzz it up real good. Add the drained pineapple and mix it all up.

    Dump the cooled pretzel bits up in there and stir it around real good. Put it in a nice dish and put it in the fridge for a bit.

  5. Spaghetti salad, cooked and drained lb. Of Spaghetti noodles, sliced cucumbers and onions, diced tomatoes, black olives, pepperoni, mixed with a bottle of Italian dressing and parmesan cheese, salt and pepper to taste, chill in fridge over night or can make same day and chill in fridge

    Macaroni Cole Slaw Salad
    Makes 8-10 side size servings

    1 1/2 cups macaroni noodles, or rotini ,measured when dry

    1 smaller English cucumber, cut into half lengthwise and then to slices.

    1/3 green bell pepper, finely chopped.

    1T red pepper for color

    1 regular celery ribs, finely chopped

    2 T red onion, finely chopped

    2/3 pint KFC coleslaw with 2T Dukes mayo added

    Cook the macaroni noodles according to package directions; drain and rinse in cold water and then transfer to a large bowl. Toss with veggies and KFC coleslaw. Refrigerate, best eaten the day it’s made

  13. If you are smoking meat. Do smoked cream cheese. Let the cream cheese soften then season. We like to be Cajun or blacken season it. Smoke it for about and 1 1/2 hrs and serve with club crackers it’s so good

    Pasta or macaroni salad, corn on the cob, baked beans, homemade potato salad, Mac and cheese, au gratin potatoes, broccoli casserole, strawberry and spinach salad and squash casserole are all good. Let me know if you need any of those recipes except the squash casserole because I have never made it but I like to eat it. Lol

    I had the yummiest veggie pizza at a baby shower last week. Bake a sheet of croissant dough out of those pop cans. Let cool, spread a mix of 1 package cream cheese, a package of ranch dip powder and 1 cup of sour cream, cover with raw vegetables cut into small pieces, the one i had was broccoli, cucumber and carrots. It was super yummy. You could use whatever veg you like.

    I make a Frito Salad
    1 head of lettuce cut for salad or large bag salad mix
    Approx 1 cup of shredded Colby Jack cheese (any shredded cheese will work)
    3 -15oz cans of drained Ranch Style Beans drained and rinsed
    1 bottle of Catalina dressing
    1 bag of Fritos or corn chips
    Mix and stir the first 3 ingredients together.
    Just before serving add the dressing and fritos, mix well
    You can add tomatoes and black olives if you like.
    Also if you think you will have leftovers let each person add fritos because they get soggy leftover.
    Additionally we have made this and added ground beef or chicken to it for a quick meal!

    I make a veggie pasta salad with cucumber, red onion, tomato, different color bell peppers, shredded carrots, black olives, shredded mozzarella and Italian dressing.

    3 cuke’s peeled and slices
    1 sweet onion sliced
    1 T dill
    Mix and bring to a boil:
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup white vinegar
    1/2 cup water
    1 T salt
    Pour over cukes and onions. Refrigerate overnight.

    Broccoli Salad
    1 head fresh broccoli (I use only the florets-not the stalks)
    Grape tomatoes (small pack)
    Red, seedless grapes (about 20 grapes)
    1/2 c Walnuts
    Sharp cheddar cheese (either cubed or shredded)
    Craisins or raisins (one small handful (personal preference-I prefer craisins)
    1 small Red onion, diced
    1/4 c bacon bits
    Mix all above ingredients together in large bowl

    Note: all ingredient amounts can be to personal preference. If you like more tomatoes and less onions-go for it!

    Dressing:
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 cup Mayo
    2 T white vinegar
    Mix all 3 ingredients well, then fold into salad

    I cube potatoes with the skin on. Use any kind of potato you like. I put them in a microwave safe container and add some cubes of butter. Cover them and cook until soft. Add Italian dressing and parm cheese while the potatoes are still hot. These can be made ahead of time and reheated in the microwave.
