Fed my family of 6 for $10. Cheap, easy and delicious mid week one skillet dinner. Even prepped everything ahead of time.
-1 pack of bacon $4
-1 beef smoked sausage $3
-2 small onions or 1 large onion about $0.25
-almost a whole bag of baby red potatoes (got on clearance for $0.50 because they were smaller then average
-medium green cabbage about $1.50
-few garlic cloves about $0.25
Cut everything up ahead of time and soaked the potatoes in water to make sure they get crispy when fried. Rendered the bacon and removed from the skillet. Cooked the sausage, garlic and onion in the bacon fat and removed from skillet. Added a tad more oil and fried the potatoes. Added everything back in the skillet with the shredded cabbage some salt, pepper and garlic powder and cooked until cabbage cooked down and got soft.
My favorite 😍
Couldn’t do that in Australia for $10
Not in this day and age for $10 with the prices the way they are.
Yum
Yummy😋
I have that now I know what to make for dinner
That looks so good!
How long do you soak the potatoes?
Bacon is like 8.99-10.99 here
Sausage is like $5-7 here
Cabbage $1.99 lb
I swear these posts are motivation to leave Hawaii haha
That looks really good.
This would be great made a la mexicana with some white rice 🍚❤️
I wish cabbage was that cheap here! They charge 6-8$ for a head here in some parts
Even in Michigan we can’t do that for $10. Bacon alone is anywhere from $6 to $12 and I shop the sales. Maybe if something is outdated you could get it for half but never that cheap. You are very lucky to find discounts that big
Egg noodles if you need to stretch it more.
If you don’t have potatoes use egg noodles.
A pack of bacon here… 325g is over $9. A small cabbage is close to $ 5. And that sausage is close to$11. Where do you live??
I live in Canada. Bacon on sale is still close to $ 6 here. 😢
I do this and it’s so good! I add 1 can of rotel if I have it for extra flavor
This is good with a lot of fresh garlic and a can of fire roasted tomatoes and served over corn bread. Sounds weird but everyone I’ve made it for loves it
